This might be true for live things continuing to grow and live as well.
No change without death?

I've been looking back at things here and I'm glad I found this.
Anything dead coming back to life hurts.
Growing hurts.
Maybe no change without death is a little extreme--although I do resonate with it some--maybe no change, at least meaningful change, without pain is just as accurate.
'no growth without change, no change without death' was a sort of mantra I picked up from my high school writing teacher.
It drew attention to the fact that for something to change meant that something old was being left behind. discontinued. Creation implies destruction in the sense of moving on.
Also, I like thinking that in this way, death is not 'bad', but a natural and necessary and acceptable component of living.
It's a departure. going somewhere requires leaving something else.
