scar tissue

When there has been some injury,

don't they recommend taking that limb through its full range of motion, as it becomes able, so as to prevent the formation of hindering scar tissue and help the recovery of strength?

Such therapy is uncomfortable, but supposedly restorative.

I think the main reason they get you moving as soon as possible to prevent Atrophy.

Atrophy 1. Pathology A wasting or decrease in size of a body organ, tissue, or part owing to disease, injury, or lack of use: muscular atrophy of a person affected with paralysis.

When there is scar tissue preventing movement they usually try to remove it to get it out of the way.

And it is very important to get that limb as strong as possible so it can handle another injury if it can't be avoided.

I was thinking more along the lines of so that the injury would take nothing from me except the time required to heal.

Scar tissue forms naturally, and removing it and building strength requires painful motion and recalls the pain brought on by the original injury.

But, I remember that the goal is to recover and not to live as though I am still injured.
